Lee Saunders Gerow (b. Mar. 29, 1891-d. May19, 1982) was born in Petersburg, Virginia. He received his commissione in the infantry in 1913, and advanced to the rank of brigadier general in March 1943. He served as Assistant Division Commander of the 85th Infantry Division from 1943 to 1945. He retired from Army service in July 1949. From the description of Gerow, Lee S.
